Elam, I hardly knew anything about Elam, and I had to get a map out to find where Elam was. So I literally obeyed. I got in my car, and my wife used to being married to a weirdo. She said, "Where are you going?" I said, "I'll be back pretty soon." I drove up here, and when I walked onto the campus, amazing enough, it was camp meeting time. That was in July.

I walked into the chapel, which was the gymnasium at the time, and the camp meeting was going full blast. And Hugo Contreps, some of you would know who he is, was prophesied. And as he prophesied, he said, "Take off your shoes." This is a holy ground. And immediately, most of the people in the place bent over and took off their shoes.

And I started to weep. I thought, "My God, I'm home." It was that subjective. It was that dramatic. I came from there, up onto the porch, and I met Carlton Spencer. He had arranged to talk to me, and Carlton came down, his effervescent self.

And he said to me, "What are you doing here?" I said, "The Lord sent me." He said, "I believe he did." He said, "What do you do?" I said, "I'm a Bible teacher." He said, "Welcome. Come in and re-talk for quite a time."

And then I came on staff here for teaching faculty. I was dean of men for a while. May God have mercy.

And I was sitting in my bathtub, and the Holy Spirit said, "Philip, I will not use his last name." But he said, "Philip is going downtown at night." So I got up out of the bathtub, went over to the men's dorm, and I knocked on his door.

I said, "Philip, you're going downtown at night without permission." He turned white. And then I got a reputation.

It wasn't all that dramatic. Then I was academic dean for a while. And then God called me to move into a whole new dimension.

And I want you to know I left here with great pain. I had a classroom down in College Hall that had nine blackboards in it. I don't know if that's still there. Is that still there? Is it?

Oh, I thought I died when heaven was revealed to me. I could not believe there was anything that wonderful, you know.

And when the Lord called me to a new direction, which was very hard for me, I determined that I was not going to go until I had full approbation and approval from Carlton and the men, the elders that were here.

With great pain, they released me to go on to what God has had for me. And so this has been a home and a refuge for me for 33 years. It's been very important for me.

And so I feel nostalgic and I feel glad to be here. I wish my bride was here with me. She is watching grandchildren.

We are married 38 years. I have four children. They're all walking with the Lord. I've got 11 grandchildren, and I'm trusting God for all of them. We've tried to obey God.

So I want to talk to you this morning. Before I do, I want to read you something that is quite important. This is called The History of the World. It's for eighth through college-level students. These are answers from exams. And I want to read you a few of these.

I don't know how many I read, just according to our response. But he said, this was collected by teachers throughout the United States.

Now, when I was a teacher here, I should have kept some of the answers on these exams.

In one of the classes, this was not mine, but she wrote on the test, "Only God knows." So one of the clever teachers said, "God 100, you 0."

I wish I had been that creative, you know. I wish I could have been that creative.

But I have seen some unbelievable answers, but none quite as unbelievable as these.

And I'll just read you a few of these.

You will learn a lot. The inhabitants of ancient Egypt were called mummies. They lived in the Sahara Desert and traveled by camel. The climate of the Sahara is such that the inhabitants have to live elsewhere. It is cultivated by irritation.

The Egyptians built the pyramids in the shape of a huge triangular cube. The Bible is full of interesting caricatures.

In the first book of the Bible, Genesis, Adam and Eve were created from an apple tree. One of their children, Cain, once asked, "Am I my brother's son?" Jacob, the son of Isaac, stole his brother's birthmark.

Pharaoh forced the Hebrew slaves to make bread without straw. Moses led them to the Red Sea where they made unleavened bread, which is bread made without any ingredients.

Then Moses went up Mount Sinai to get the Ten Commandments.

Solomon, one of David's sons, had 500 wives and 500 porcupines.

I can hardly not read this whole thing to you. Homer was not written by Homer, but by another man of that same name.

Socrates was a famous Greek teacher who went around giving people advice. They killed him.

Socrates died from an overdose of wedlock.

History calls people Romans because they never stayed in one place for very long.

Joan of Arc was canonized by Bernard Shaw.

Finally, the Magna Carta provided that no free man should be hanged twice for the same offense.

Another tale tells of William Tell who shot an arrow through an apple while standing on his son's head.

The Renaissance was an age in which more individuals felt the value of human being.

Martin Luther was nailed to the church door at Wittenberg for selling papal indulgences. He died a horrible death being excommunicated by a bull.

It was an age of great inventions and discoveries.

Gutenberg invented the Bible.

Sir Walter Raleigh is a historical figure because he invented cigarettes.

This one is unbelievable. Sir Francis Drake circumcised the world with his 100-foot clipper.

Now that is unbelievable, all right?

Writing at the same time as Shakespeare was Miguel Cervantes. He wrote Don Quixote.

The next great author was John Milton. Milton wrote Paradise Lost.

Then his wife died, and he wrote Paradise Regained.

During the Renaissance, America began.

Christopher Columbus was a great navigator who discovered America while cursing about the Atlantic. His ships were called the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Fe.

Later, the pilgrims crossed the ocean, and this was known as Pilgrim's Progress.

I have to drop some of this.

Abraham Lincoln became America's greatest president. Lincoln's mother died in infancy, and he was born in a log cabin, which he built with his own hands.

On the night of April 14, 1865, Lincoln went to the theater and got shot in his seat by one of the actors in a moving picture show.

The believed assassinator was John Wilkes Booth, a supposedly insane actor. This ruined Booth's career.

Bach was the most famous composer in the world, and so was Handel. Handel was half German, half Italian, and half English. He was very large.

Bach died from 1750 to the present.

Now this one you have to think about. Beethoven wrote music even though he was deaf. He was so deaf he wrote loud music. He took long walks in the forest even when everyone was calling for him.

Beethoven expired in 1827 and later he died for this.

The sun never sets on the British Empire because the British Empire is in the east and the sun sets in the west.

The 19th century was a time of many great inventions and thoughts.

The invention of the steamboat caused a network of rivers to spring up, and Karl Marx became one of the Marx brothers.

Now, if I had kept some of my tests when I was a teacher, I would have had some that read to you literally, all right?

Now, what I want you to do with me is turn to Hebrews chapter 5, please. And I want to talk to you for a little while about the call of God.

And something that I have identified as occupational hazards. I trust that what I'm sharing this morning will be direct, succinct, and effective in our own walk in the Lord.

Hebrews 5, and I want to read 7, 8, and 9. These are three simple texts, and then we'll take something from the surrounding scriptures and try to point something out that um I suppose I should have known right from the start and that's why I think when I woke up this morning I thought, "Lord, what can I say to this speedy body? This one I may never get a chance to address you as seniors other than the time I'm here. What could I say to you that would make a genuine and definitive difference in your journey?"

How many know it's not who starts this walk, but who finishes it? You just started.

I'm 40 years old, 41 years old, and the object is to finish your race.

And so I want to say some things to you, if God will help me, and I'll try to say them straight and clear. Look at 7, chapter 5 and verse 7. In fact, let me just read from chapter 5, verse 1.

Every high priest taken from among men is appointed on behalf of men.

The things pertaining in God, in order to offer both gifts and sacrifices for sin.

And he can deal gently, notice that word please, he can deal gently with the ignorant and the misguided, since he himself is also beset with weakness.

Because of it, he is obligated to offer sacrifices for sin as for the people, so also for himself.

Verse 4, And no one takes the honor to himself, but receives it when he is called by God, even as Aaron was.

So also Christ did not glorify himself so as to become a high priest, but he who said to him, "Thou art my son, today I have begotten thee," just as he says also in another passage, "Thou art a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek."

Verse 7, in the days of his flesh, when he offered up both prayers and supplication.

Now, I want you, if you mark your Bible, please, just underline these two words, loud crying and tears. This is a description of our Lord.

He offered up both prayers and supplication with loud crying and tears.

To him who was able to save him from death and who was heard because of his piety.

Although he was a son, he learned obedience from the things which he suffered.

And having been made perfect, he became to all those who obey him the source.

Notice that word, the source.

Of eternal salvation.

Being designated by God as a high priest, according to the order of Melchizedek, verse 11.

Now, I want you to pick up just a little thought here in verse 11. Concerning him, we have much to say, and it is hard to explain.

Now, what he's explaining something here, and I'm hoping I can follow this.

Verse 14, solid food is for the mature.

I want you to see that word mature.

Then in 6.1, it's used again. Let us press on.

To maturity.

That's a Greek word, teleos, meaning moving towards its proper goal.

Now, let me come back for a moment and set a picture for you that is really important.

And I want to say it as straight and uncomplicated as I can.

It's simply this: nothing is more important in the world than your secret life with God.

Matthew 6 teaches us there is a secret place. You pray in secret, you fast in secret, you give in secret.

And the Bible says, our Father, what does it say? Our Father will reward you openly.

Now, why?

The secret lie, if there's anything that keeps us moving, it's whether or not you have a secret lie.

See? Once I was going to speak to a group of businessmen, about 100 businessmen, important businessmen. And as they introduced me, I was walking across, almost like Paul did this morning, I was walking across, and the businessman stopped me, and he said, "Mr. Mumford, and I was taken aback, and he said, 'Did you have your time with the Lord this morning?'"

And I said, "Well, yes, actually I did."

He said, "Fine, because if you didn't, we weren't going to let you talk to us."

The business people know more than Christians.

Now, what's a secret like?

Very simply, what I do in secret, and Father rewards openly.

Now, let me go quickly to a couple points I want to make with you. And I'm fooling with your head this morning, if you will allow me.

I touched some things that are really important for us.

It's very simply this: there are three reasons we don't have a secret life.

I'll give them to you quickly.

This is not my theme. My theme, I have to do this to get where I want to go.

But there are three reasons why we don't have a secret life.

There are very simply one, fear of the Father.

We are afraid of him because we don't know who he is or what he's like or what he will do. And so there's a fear of the father.

And this comes from all the trauma of our own childhood and weirdness of authority and all the stuff that goes on with that.

Then the second one has to do with the fear of the journey.

I'm afraid of where he's taken me. How do I know I'm going to get there? How do I know I will get back? Why did he choose this route?

How many here ever worried about the journey? Don't put your hands up.

We can't stand it.

But fear of the Father, fear of the journey, and the third one, a little more subtle, and this is called fear of suffering.

Now, I am not a hero.

I said to the Lord, "I don't mind suffering, providing I don't do it by myself."

If I suffer, I want Paul to get in there with me all right. And I want other people to do this because I don't want to do it by myself.

Now, fear of suffering is a strange thing because it's very subtle, very quiet, and they love not their lives unto death and all that and that comes from fear of failure or fear of embarrassment, perhaps I won't be able to do it.

Now, what I want to do with you, and I want to try to show you something quite quickly because I don't want to get caught, and I will quit at 12 o'clock, all right?

Now, fear of the Father, fear of the journey, and fear of what the journey involves, i.e., a certain kind of suffering.

Now, what I want to talk to you about this morning is a certain kind of suffering. I want to be specific, I want to be clear, and I want us to be able to grab hold of it.

Because it's been years when I've been trying to isolate this and get a hold of it so that I could be able to explain it to someone such as yourself.

Now, let's go back to chapter 5, and let me show you something. You have your Bible open, and then I want to try to pick up some couple things, all right?

In verse 4, now in verse 4, it says in verse 4, he is called of God.

Do you see that word, called of God?

When anyone is called of God, there is a call on him.

Now, I assume that if you are here at Elam and you are a student, that there is a call on you.

Now, if I am called of God, I have now taken to myself, or God has called me to a certain occupation, which is a priestly kind of a ministry.

Alright, now look at verse 1. We'll just take this apart very quickly.

Verse 1 says, "We were taken from among men, that is, God called us out as a ministry, called us out from among men, from New Jersey or New York City or Pennsylvania or wherever. He called us out."

There's a call on your life. He called us out.

Now look at the other half of verse 1, and is appointed on the behalf of men.

So he called me out and then sent me to help people.

That's my job. Job description is he called me to help or minister to people.

That's what's behind the word minister.

Now, if that's accurate, I'm trying to understand something that comes down.

Now, let's come down to verse 4. No one takes this honor to himself.

I honestly believed when God called me to ministry. I said to the Lord audibly, "Lord, I know you don't make mistakes."

But you made your first one.

I mean, I really felt that you made your first mistake when you called me.

Now, no man takes this call to himself.

Then I begin to wrestle with the call of God.

Now, how do I know? Let's look at verse 9 before we jump into our text.

How do I know that I have a call of God on me?

Now, let me be kind of pedantic, if I may, this morning until you get to know me a little bit.

But here's one of the things you've got to identify, and that's this. I have this hidden, almost undiscoverable urge to become a source for others.

Now look at it, it's in verse 7. He became a source of eternal salvation for people.

Now, becoming a source of life.

Becoming a source of help to other people.

Whether it's evangelism, whether it's healing or deliverance or pastoral care or prophetic, there's a source.

I have a friend of mine said, "I don't understand the drive that is in you."

And I said, "I don't understand the absence of one in you."

Now, I want to become a source of life to others.

Now, watch this word. What is the definition of maturity?

Definition of maturity is, I begin to produce more than I consume.

I begin to produce more than I consume.

I have four children. How many of you know children are consumers? All right? I mean, they consume everything, like the plagues of Egypt, all right? They eat every green thing, all right?

The day comes when my son starts to become a place where he begins to produce more than he consumes.

Now, the change is an absolute consumer, and then as a consumer, he begins to come down, and then he begins to produce. He is a source for other people.

Barry and Stacy and these men and women who are here, they're in the classroom because they are a source of life to you.

Always believing, absolutely unrelenting, to believe that God will make you a source to others.

If you don't, you missed it. If eventually you don't become a source to others.

So if somebody's in trouble, they call you

Here is the cleaned and formatted sermon transcription:

Journey for just a couple moments till we get hold of something that God's going to help us put it into a focus, all right? Now, let's look at a very interesting kind of scripture, and that is five. Let's look at seven and eight, all right?

Quickly, and I want to... I want you to look with me at 8 and 9, sorry. We saw the loud crying and tears. I'll say something about that in a moment.

Although he was a son, now watch this. Now here's my absolute pivotal point this morning. Please hear me. Although he was a son, he learned obedience from the things which he suffered.

Now I wrestled with this. I always believed that all suffering was related to sin, disobedience, or rebellion. Now here, we have a very strange picture, which is the perfect son of God, sinless son of God, who is learning obedience, and he never sins.

And I thought, God, help me. Please help me. And help us to be specific what we're dealing with.

Now, what's behind this? I'll try to get it. Let's look at the word "perfect" for a moment.

Having been made perfect. Now, I struggled with that because my understanding of the deity of Christ and who he was, and I couldn't understand how he could be made perfect when he was born perfect, sinless son of God.

All right, quickly, we'll dismiss this. And by the way, if you're a Greek student or you really are serious about what I'm saying, do a study on the word "telos." Do a word study on "perfect" and "perfected" in the book of Hebrews. Marvelous! Almost tempted to do that this morning but do that now.

Watch here is the acorn. Here is the oak tree. Watch now the acorn is perfect. The acorn is perfect. Inside of the acorn is all of the potential of what this acorn was supposed to be.

So Jesus, our Lord, is born in human form in the nativity and is born, there's the acorn, and in the acorn is a full development and it unfolds to the fullness of all that God had intended for. This is perfect, this is perfected. Very simply how the word is used.

One is perfect, the other is perfected. Now that word is used, I don't know how many times, I didn't have my computer with me this morning, I was going to sort all that out, but the word is used many times, perfected, bringing to full end, the full design.

What does God have for Elam? Have we come to all that God wants for us? No. We are moving toward God's purpose for us so that there is a perfection, a maturity, a moving towards the goal that God has for our life.

Now, let me show you one of the ways that we know that we are coming to the fullness of God's purpose for our life is we begin to be a source for others. When you're with them, people say, man, just to be around you makes me feel better. Are you breathing? I didn't lose you anywhere, did I?

Just to be around you makes me feel better. I don't want to use too many personal illustrations because that's not what I'm asking. But all the joy, the sheer joy of becoming a source of life for others, of any kind of life.

See? Of ministry, of deliverance, of healing. The urgency to go lay hands on the sick. The urgency of being able to help and counsel and strengthen.

Yesterday morning, a couple came from a long ways away and sat an hour and a half in my office. And as we sat there, and I went after them, and I was brutal. I tell you, I went for the juggler, man. Here's this two-couple, and they're about to get divorced, and I went after them like a... like a hound dog, all right?

And I pressed them to the wall. And as I did, they both broke open, and God brought them together, and the family evidently, and I'm trusting God that the family will be saved.

And they walked out of the office, and I thought, God, that's what I was born for. That's what you've trained me for, to be a source of life to those who are hurting.

Now, that's a fairly good definition of ministry of any kind.

Now, let's follow my thought here, and I want to show you something. Now, what I want you to put in... I titled this "occupational hazards." But let me put it in another term so you're not afraid of it by now, I hope.

You're not afraid of it. What I'd like to call it is called vocational suffering. If I am called of God,

There are certain kinds of suffering that become mine by virtue of my call. It has nothing to do with sin, nothing to do with failure. It has to do with a fact.

How many know that a coal miner has certain occupational hazards? Or an airplane pilot has certain occupational hazards?

The pilot says there's no problem. There's only two problems in flying, when you take off and when you land.

Now, why? What is an occupational hazard? Well, it means I committed to follow Jesus, and Jesus is priestly.

And when Jesus is priestly, he wants to work something in my life that approximates it. So there's certain kinds of problems that I face that are part of my occupation, has nothing to do primarily with my failure or my sin.

How many here ever went through a really mysterious experience? You couldn't understand what happened or how in the world the thing unfolded. And you think, what in the world is going on?

I'm here to interpret that. And I'll show it to you scripturally.

Let me read off nine of these just so you get an idea of what I'm talking about.

Particular hazards of my occupation. Number one, failure. Did Jesus ever... Anybody here know that Jesus ever failed in anything? How about John 6?

When they all took off. How about at the garden of Gethsemane when they all forsook him?

Now listen carefully. Some of you have heard me say this. There is a deception of unbroken success. If you've never known failure, you just keep going up and up and up where there is no error.

So there's a thing called failure, and it's just a time when it doesn't work. And you did all the things you're supposed to do, and you thought, it's sin, it's rebellion. No, no, no, it's just failure. Welcome to the school.

Now, I could say more about that. Let me run through the rest of these.

Rejection. Oh, God, rejection. I can't stand it.

Persecution, opposition. I have all Bible verses for these. I won't bother that.

Physical discomfort. I was in the sea for three days. I was beaten three times.

Identification with God. How many remember the scripture, Philippians 3.10, that I might know him and what?

The power of his resurrection and fellowship of his suffering.

I had a lady wrote to me about a month ago and she said, "I'm not sure I want to know him that well."

All right, now what? Identification means that I'm identifying with the Lord. That's an occupational hazard.

Weakness. 2 Corinthians 12, 9 says, God's power is made perfect in what?

Say it with me, in what?

In weakness. I'm coming off of four and a half years of absolute weakness.

It has been the strangest season any person ever been through.

How many could believe that I have searched my soul a thousand times? The Lord said, quit it and enjoy the trip.

Weakness. And I've been prayed for by the best, rebuked, passed out, prayed over, anointed, Pentecostal massage, everything.

Everything. And when they're all done, weakness. I get up, take my shower. And I'll just go weak and I want to go back to bed.

My wife says, what's the matter with you? I had all the diagnosis. Nobody could diagnose anything.

So then I began to get suspicious called weakness.

Listen, others he saved. Come on.

Himself he could not save.

Wait a while you're pastoring that you go across town and pray for somebody's children and they get healed immediately and you come home, pray for you, and they don't get you.

I thought, man, what is this? I'm a source for others while God is dealing with you. Am I talking to the right people?

Okay. Now, quickly, I need to go somewhere with this. Weakness. Betrayal. Hello.

I promise you.

That if you walk this journey long enough, you will experience a wonderful thing called betrayal. And it usually comes with a kiss. And it's a blessing.

If you see it in the context of what I'm saying, you will understand there's something that's going on here.

The ninth one is called misunderstanding. How many here have ever been misunderstood? Let me see your hand.

Come on. But Stacy, the dog ate my homework.

Now, watch. This understanding is part of something.

Now, I want you to read with me, please, a scripture. And please go turn with me to a scripture, 2 Corinthians chapter 1.

Now, I don't want to open this. I'm going to be finished on time. I want you to look at 2 Corinthians chapter 1, and I just want you to mark something here very, very carefully, and then I'm going to make an application.

All right.

2 Corinthians 1, starting to read at verse 3. Now, what I'd like for you to do is mark your Bible. This Bible is this word "comfort." I'm using the New American Standard. That's the translation Jesus used. Right. Okay. Now what?

I want you to see the word "comfort." Now, I want you, as soon as somebody sees what I'm after here, will you please just put your hand up so that I can see that the lights are going on? Watch.

I'm going to read, and the word "comfort" is used ten times in five verses. Now, watch what it goes with.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort.

who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted for God. By God, that's five.

And the verse, the key verse, is verse four.

For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours, this is occupational hazard.

Just as the sufferings of Christ are ours, verse 5, in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.

If we are afflicted, watch it, if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort or your salvation. The pressure has come to make me a source. In order to be a source, something has to happen in your soul. Failure to become a source makes you a professor.

And the professional puts on his white coat and his rubber gloves and says, may I help you? He said, no thanks, I've got enough problems. Man, the world, the church is full of them.

Failure to understand, I've become a professional.

Now let's walk through this a minute and see if we can see what we're talking about. If I don't understand, I need to finish reading, don't I?

Verse 6, if we are afflicted, it's because I ask God to make me a source. If I am afflicted, it's for your comfort and salvation. If we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is affected in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer.

Verse 7, our hope is firmly grounded, knowing that as you are sharers of our suffering, so you are so sharers of our comfort. Ten times in five verses.

All right, let's go quickly. Now I want to wrap this up.

If I don't understand, here's what I'm asking you to think with me. If I don't understand that God allows certain circumstances to happen in my life, God does that to put tears in your voice.

Now, here's what I'm saying to you. Paul will tell you another brother here. I am very slow to listen to prophecy that doesn't have tears in your voice.

What's the matter with you? God's going to judge you. If it comes something like this, Oh, Jerusalem, Jerusalem, how oft I would have gathered you.

And there's tears in the voice.

And I'm praying in Jesus' name while you make your journey through this school that you will embrace every event, every happening, whether it's misunderstanding, persecution, whatever.

You can embrace it all and say, God, use it!

So that when you set me in a position where somebody's hurting, I'll be able to say exactly the right thing to the right person.

How many of you ever had somebody put the word on you when it was wrong? Finish.

How can I finish?

Hebrews 4.15, look at it. We do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses.

but one who has been tempted in all things like as we are yet without sin.

When I woke up this morning, I woke up with a terrible illustration, and I didn't want to use it.

And I've been struggling with the Lord. You never did that, did you?

I've been struggling with the Lord.

And it was clear as a bell that I could share this with you.

I met the Lord, and I was 12 years backslidden.

12 years I was away sometimes.

Came back to the Lord at age 24, and I was a heat-seeking missile.

I was going to be the most spiritual person that God had ever seen.

What does that do?

Somebody tell me, what does that do?

Makes you a Pharisee.

I was president of the Deeper Life Club. Learned all the tricks.

Now that I'd been backslidden all those years, I was determined that I was going to be ultra-righteous.

Strange thing happened one day.

kerosene heater in my trailer we had a 28-foot trailer started to leak

It was in a hole, and I put my hand in a hole, got the thing off.

The thing was cutting me. It was bleeding, and I'd get this thing off, and I would fix it and put it back, and I would re-fix it, and it was soft copper tubing.

Anybody knows how this is.

And put it back.

It would continue to drip, and I took it off, put it back.

My arm is bleeding.

I prayed over it, rebuked it, prayed over it, asked God, help me, please.

And finally, nothing happened. Every time I would put the thing back, it would start to leak again.

So I was humbled.

You understand that word?

And my wife says, Honey, it's okay. Let it meet.

She thought I was going to die of an apoplexy.

I said, No.

Finally, I get outside, and this thing is coming.

And then I feel this anger moving towards God.

And I said, Okay, God. I yield it all.

Strong crying here, breaking inside.

Now, what's God doing?

Tell me, what's God doing?

Making himself a... Oh, well, a story.

Making himself a story.

Whenever the sets of circumstances...

Now, hear me when I say it.

Whenever the mountain on both sides, the red sea in the front, and Pharaoh coming up the back, that's not the devil.

That's God forcing sets of circumstances where whatever is in you can come up and can be revealed.

Now, there's a secret life.

If you don't hear what I'm saying, how many here, let me ask you one question then real quick.

How many here have had to work through getting mad at God?

Put your hands up because it's really important.

Almost half of us have had to work through that.

Now, what I've been saying to you very simply is if you could hear me.

What I've put into your hands will keep you from getting angry at the Lord.

Quit, keep you from your secret life. You get angry with the Lord, you begin to withdraw from your relationship to God, and you find yourself not pressing into where the Lord wants you to be.

Will you stand with me, please, real quick?

Our Father, we stand at the threshold.

of a new move of your holy spirit over this nation and over the world would you grant to us as students faculty members of Elam Fellowship

would you grant to us whatever it takes for you to make us a source of life to others work in us our father to that end that we might know what it means

to come out of the realm of religious efficiency into a realm of spiritual reality.

Work enough, our Father, to this end for Jesus' sake amen
